Group the people in a company into departments so the same crews organize your production runs and your daily staffing.

A department is a group of people who do one kind of work — your line crew, your warehouse team, your QA reviewers. Set one up once and the same grouping organizes the work on a production run and the shifts on your staff schedule. You build and manage them from Departments.
Open Departments and start a new one
In the sidebar, open Settings → Departments and select New. The New department panel opens.
Name it after a job on your floor
Give it a name for the function it stands for — Production, Logistics, Quality — not a person's name. You'll assign people to it in a moment.
Describe what it covers (optional)
Add a short Description if the name alone doesn't make the department's work obvious. It shows under the name on the list.
Set a flow order (optional)
Enter a in Flow order to slot the department into that sequence — receiving early, packing late. Departments with a flow order sort ahead of those without, lowest number first, and the number drives the order they run on a production floor.
Create the department
Select Create. It joins the list, ready for members.
A flow order sticks once you set it
You can change a department's flow order later, but you can't clear it back to none. Leave it blank until you know where the department belongs in the sequence.
Each row carries the department's name, a Flow badge with its number when it has a flow order, and its description underneath. On the right, a count — 3 members, 1 member, or No members — with a people icon; select it to open the member list. Select the name itself to edit the department.
Members come from the people who already belong to the company. Someone has to belong to a company before they show up here to assign — see Add people to your companies if a person you expect is missing.
Open the member list
On the department's row, select the members count — the one with the people icon. The Manage members panel opens with the department's name and a switch for everyone in the company.
Toggle people in and out
Turn a person's switch on to put them in the department, off to take them out. Each change saves the moment you flip it — there's no separate save step, and a person can belong to more than one department.
Select the department's name to open the Edit department panel. Change the Name, Description, or Flow order, then select Save. Members aren't on this panel — they live on the Manage members panel above, so renaming a department or reordering it never touches who's in it.
